Undergraduate entry qualifications

First year entry

Students whose first language is not English may be asked to provide evidence of English Language ability when applying to the University of Winchester. The requirement for admission to undergraduate degree programmes is a minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS (International English Language Teaching System) including a minimum score of 6.0 in Academic Writing, or an equivalent qualification (for example 560 in Paper-based TOEFL, 220 in Computer-based TOEFL).

All students applying for a Bachelors (BA, BSc and LLB) degree at Winchester will also be required to hold one of the following qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a suitable one year UK Foundation programme from a recognised university or further education college
  • Holders of the European Baccalaureate with a minimum 6.5/65% depending on the subject chosen
  • Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma – a score of at least 24-26 is usually required

OR

  • Holders of the Diploma za Zavarsheno Sredno Obrazovanie or Diploma za Sredno - Spetzialno Obrazovanie (Diploma of Completed Secondary Education - awarded by technical secondary schools) will be considered for admission to Bachelor degree courses generally with a 4 or above depending on the subject chosen

Postgraduate entry qualifications

Students whose first language is not English may be asked to provide evidence of English Language ability when applying to the University of Winchester. The requirement for admission to postgraduatedegree programmes is a minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS (International English Language Teaching System) including a minimum score of 6.5 in Academic Writing, or an equivalent qualification (for example 580 in Paper-based TOEFL, 237 in Computer-based TOEFL).

All students applying for a Masters degree (MA/MSc/MBA) at Winchester should hold one of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree (Honours)
  • Applicants without a first degree but with 5-7 years relevant work experience may also be considered on an individual basis for some Masters programmes

OR

  • Holders of the Diploma za Zavarsheno Visshe Obrazonaie (Diploma of Completed Higher Education) Bachelor may be considered for postgraduate study
