United States of America - Saco, Maine

Biography

The students were all very friendly and also quite curious about what the U.S. was like. Their enthusiasm in introducing me to their culture allowed me to be at ease in this strange place and their hospitality was extraordinary.

I am studying Media Studies. I found that the professors were extremely willing to assist me with work as being out of my element I had far more questions than I usually would.

I chose the University of Winchester because I had learned that their Media Studies program was of great excellence and the modules taught by amazingly knowledgeable professors.

Why would a 21 year old Media student from a small town called Saco, Maine want to leave the mountains, the beach and the people she loves? To embark on a journey that would forever change her view of the world and to broaden her academic career. The only way to truly understand another cultures lifestyle and media workings is to be fully immersed in it.

Winchester’s location was also ideal for visits to London as well as the rest of Europe. I found my time at Winchester to be academically challenging in a beneficial way as it forced me to think outside of the box and employ my knowledge of American media to use as a valuable tool for comparison. The new student union building is wonderful and I loved the contemporary design, it is a cool space to meet with friends or do work. The Winchester Experience is to be surrounded by a network of people with a vast amount of resources, to be in small classes with other students that share your passions and to leave memories that will never be forgotten.
