Karen Price, Head of HR
“I started working at the University as a Personnel Officer and thanks to the opportunities afforded to me, I have been able to progress my career here and I am now the Head of HR. Family commitments meant that I wanted to reduce my hours and the University accommodated this, allowing me to work three days a week in line with school hours. I have a great work-life balance and I feel really valued by, and committed to, the University.”
Chrissie Ferngrove,
Research and Knowledge Exchange Co-ordinator
“I have worked for the University of Winchester for 11 years and am currently the Research and Knowledge Exchange Co-ordinator, supporting research students during their time here, right from their initial enquiry all the way through to Graduation. I am based at the Master’s Lodge on the West Downs campus. There is a new coffee shop in the West Downs Centre for staff and students to use and there is the Cosmic Garden in the grounds which is lovely to sit in at lunch time in the summer. I love working at the University as it is small and friendly. There is also flexibility in working hours and dress code in many parts of the University.”
Sean Ashford,
Networks and Systems Manager
"I have worked for the University for 10 years as Networks and Systems Manager and I can honestly say that working here has been the happiest time of my working life; the people I work with are friendly and there is a very good working atmosphere. Recently I have started studying for a degree in Business Management at the University. I receive lots of support for my dyslexia from the University which covers both working and studying life."
Sara Gangai,
Events Co-ordinator and Administrator for Wired Wessex
"I have worked at the University for a year and I am the Events Co-ordinator and Administrator for Wired Wessex. I work part time, 18.5 hours per week, normally over 3 days. My role enables me to work very flexible hours and on occasion I am able to work from home. The staff development opportunities are a real perk of working for the University. I am currently studying part time for a Masters qualification."
