Biography

Mark Byford was an award-winning journalist and editor at the BBC for more than thirty years. He was Director of the BBC World Service for six years before becoming Deputy Director General and Head of BBC Journalism, responsible for all news and current affairs output in the UK and around the world. Since leaving the BBC in 2011, he has focussed on writing.

A Name On A Wall was published in 2013 to widespread critical acclaim. He also writes non-fiction. Married with five grown-up children, he has lived in Winchester for 28 years. He is also a Trustee of the RNLI.
