Biography

Karen is Senior Lecturer in Education (Teacher Development). She joined the University of Winchester in October 2014 and teaches on the BEd, PGCE and EYITT programmes. She is currently studying for the Doctor of Education (EdD).

Karen has taught in a range of primary schools and nurseries and held a number of senior positions in schools, including Early Years & Key Stage 1 Leader, Mathematics Manager, Deputy Head Teacher and Acting Head Teacher. She has also worked extensively as a Primary Consultant for Hampshire's Mathematics Advisory Service and an Early Years Advisory Teacher for Hampshire's Early Years Education Advisory Team.

Karen is an experienced educator with a strong reputation for providing high-quality bespoke training, support and resources to support sustained quality improvement in primary schools and early years settings throughout Hampshire. She has extensive experience in establishing best practice pedagogy and leading teams of teachers and early years practitioners to provide quality teaching and learning experiences that improve outcomes for children.

Areas of expertise

Karen's particular areas of expertise are early-years education, mathematics, communication and language, assessment, partnership with parents, and transition.
