Biography

Professor Judith Lathlean is Visiting Professor of Knowledge Exchange in the University's Health and Wellbeing Research Group. She is a behavioural and social scientist with first, Master's and Doctorate degrees from Cardiff, Brunel and Oxford in economics, social studies, public and social administration and nursing education. She has an extensive research background in mental health, including in prisons, professional education, public and user involvement in research and evaluation of the organisation of health and social care services.

A former Professor of Health Research in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton, she still holds visiting status in that Faculty. She is also Conjoint Professor at Newcastle University, New South Wales, Australia. She has been a Non-Executive Director of an Acute Health Trust and has managed a research consultancy for many years.

​​Professor Lathlean has supervised to completion almost 50 Doctoral students and has considerable experience of examining Doctorates and research degrees. She still supervises at Southampton and the Open University. At Winchester, she welcomes enquiries about research supervision in her areas of expertise.
