David is the co-founder of the Winchester Centre for Global Health, part of the University's Faculty of Health and Wellbeing. David was formerly a General Practitioner in Southampton and then Director of GP Education in Wessex, followed by a period as a Director of Workforce in the NHS. David has extensive overseas development experience; together with Lord Nigel Crisp, he founded the Zambia Alliance to help integrate development programmes and projects there.
His expertise lies principally in working closely with governments and NGOs regarding development work, and he brings to the Centre an expertise in project leadership and management. Together with Professor Colin Coles, David co-founded the Winchester Centre for Global Health and he continues to work closely with Centre members supporting work in the field.
