Karen is a Senior Lecturer in Education. She has over 20 years experience of teaching in Primary education where, as a long-term member of the Senior Leadership Team, she held positions of responsibility including Curriculum Development Leader; ITE Coordinator; Performance Manager and Pupil Premium Lead (responsible for overseeing strategy and implementation of effective interventions.)
Throughout her teaching career, she was the coordinator for Gifted and Talented (identified at county level as being a leading professional in this area); English (identified as a Leading Literacy Teacher); PFL (making use of her degree in French and Spanish) and Outdoor Learning and Geography (producing and publishing a number of Geography packs which were subsequently used in schools across Hampshire.) Later, she worked closely with the Winchester module leader in developing the Learning Outside the Classroom Module.
Karen was recruited by the Hampshire Primary Phase Leadership and Learning Partner for Hampshire Childrens Services in order to support the Primary NQT Induction Programme. Her role was to act as a Lead for NQT school-based CPD sessions. She also took a lead role in The Hampshire Research Project: Leading Sustained Development, culminating in workshops and presentations involving students showcasing pupil voice and creativity in developing their learning opportunities.
Karen is an experienced Link Tutor and continues to carry out much work in this area which she thoroughly enjoys. She has also recently acted as a Winchester University Tutor to Fareham and Gosport SCITT trainees and is about to embark on a similar role for Winchester with a new School Direct Partnership.

Karen is a part-time Senior Lecturer and member of the P.E. team. She has over 20 years experience of teaching in Primary education and, as a former Leader of Gifted and Talented, a particular interest in this area.
