Battlefields Trust AGM and ConferenceBook now
Friday 26 - Sunday 28 April 2019
The Stripe, King Alfred Quarter, Sparkford Road, Winchester SO22 4NR
The Battlefields Trust Wessex Region is delighted to be hosting the Trust’s 2019 Conference and AGM. We are pleased to have been able to assemble a range of distinguished speakers on a variety of topics. In addition to some fascinating historical talks we’ll hear about the latest thinking in a number of fields, including battlefield archaeology and preservation and we are particularly pleased to have input from the University of Winchester with whom the Trust is working on a project to investigate the Battlefield of Cheriton. The programme of activities can be found below.
Tea and coffee will be available on Saturday and Sunday and lunch will be provided on Saturday. The conference dinner will be held in the University’s 19th century Shakespeare Room. Dress: smart casual.
The University is a fifteen-minute walk from Winchester Railway Station, fifteen minutes from the cathedral and just ten minutes from the military museum complex and Round Table. Onsite parking is available.
In order to allow delegates to select accommodation which best suits their individual needs there is no set accommodation for the conference. Winchester is surrounded by a number of towns and cities (Southampton, Romsey, Alton, New Alresford, Eastleigh) all of which offer a range of accommodation within a half hour drive of the University.
Our partners at Brookland Travel are holding a number of double/twin and single occupancy rooms at the Royal Hotel in central Winchester and have also arranged a special discounted rate at the Potter’s Heron Hotel, Ampfield, which is on the outskirts of Winchester, just a 12-minute drive or taxi ride from the University. Spaces are limited so please contact them as soon as possible on 01305 259467 or email@example.com if you would like to take up this offer.
