Is Heaven for Real? Follow-on day

Saturday 12 November
Room 5, Main Building, King Alfred Campus, University of Winchester, Sparkford Road, Winchester, Hampshire SO22 4NR

Following the conference, Is Heaven for Real: the Significant Implications of Near Death Experiences, we would like to continue the conversation about NDEs by hosting a further one day event to pick up on some of the issues raised at the summer conference.

Participant feedback included a request to hear more accounts of NDEs in person or filmed, to have more experiential work in groups and the opportunity to take the discussion about Heaven/ the afterlife further.

This one day event, hosted by the Institute for Theological Partnerships and Chaired by Dr Shirley Firth, will take the form of a seminar and discussion groups and seeks to explore the following issues:

  • Are these experiences convincing evidence of an afterlife? If so, why are they often different from each other? Most of those who have such experiences are convinced of the reality of an afterlife of unconditional love and joy. What can we make of that?
  • What do they tell us about death?
  • What can we make of negative NDEs,
  • Can knowledge about them help those who are dying? Do we have a right, e.g. in hospitals, to talk about them?

The content of this day has been informed by feedback from the previous conference however, it is not essential to have attended that event.

Cost: £45 (includes refreshments throughout the day, 2 course buffet lunch)
