The Wessex Learning Centre, Inner Close, Winchester Cathedral SO23 9LS

Traditionally History has been a top-down, 'snobbish' subject interested chiefly in leaders of different kinds. Today, however, a major shift of emphasis is under way as historians democratise their subject and bring to life those in the past who have tended to be ignored or neglected - among them women, workers of all kinds and children. Using some local examples this lecture illustrates the historian's new agenda.

This talk is given by Professor Roger Richardson, Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Winchester and is organised by Winchester Cathedral.

Tickets are £5.00 and are availablefrom the Cathedral Box Office or website.
