A round-table to launch and discuss a new book by the County Inspector/Adviser for Religious Education, History & Philosophy for Hampshire, Dr Patricia Hannam.

The book is Religious Education and the Public Sphere (London: Routledge, 2018) 


Programme:

16.30: Light refreshments & previewing the book. P&G Wells, The Winchester University Bookshop, will be open

17:00: Welcome and introduction: Dr Maya Warrier. Head of Theology, Religion and Philosophy, University of Winchester.

17:05: Religion in the Public Sphere: Andrew Bradstock. Professor and Convenor of the Centre for Theology and Religion in Public Life. University of Winchester.

17.15: Author’s Introduction: Dr Patricia Hannam: “Religious Education and the Public Sphere” – some new directions and leadings for what religion in education should seek to achieve in the public sphere.

17.40: Response - placing the book in a wider educational context : Gert Biesta. Professor of Education, Brunel University London and NIVOZ Professor for Education at the University of Humanistic Studies, The Netherlands. 

18.00: Questions and discussion chaired by Dr Maya Warrier.
