Research Seminar Series Six Autumn 2018
Session One: Wellbeing through wholeness, the balance of body, mind and spirit
Presented by Liz Slinn, UoW PGR student (Theology, Religion and Philosophy)
After retiring from many years of working in the NHS Liz took up studying theology and is now working on her thesis ‘Developing the Christian Healing Ministry in dialogue with the work and literature of Paul Tournier’. Tournier developed his own form of Christian counselling, helping mental and physical health suffers achieve a balance of body, mind and spirit. Still work in progress, this seminar will expand on the main elements which are emerging as important in the Healing Ministry and that are reflected in secular practice such as listening; the importance of community and acceptance of problems and achieving and maintaining an important balance within.
Liz will also draw on case studies from her time in the NHS as a manager of health care and partnerships.
