5 minutes with ... Kate Fox

What are you up to these days?

I took a slightly different career path after University and I am now a Registered Veterinary Nurse! However, I continue to stay creative and write poetry and children’s fiction in my spare time. I’m also about to start a Diploma in Illustration to strengthen my skills and to use it alongside my writing for children. Within the near future I hope to build up my portfolio of writing and drawing and develop a new, personal and artistic career.

Favourite Uni memory

I have many great Uni memories, several of which were just how much I enjoyed being amongst other creatives. Others included playing rock n roll bingo at the County Arms, dressing up for SU themed nights out and finding out that the next day would be a snow day on a Thursday night in December and having a drunken snow fight outside of our halls!

Advice for new students

My advice would be to make the most of every minute, keep an eye out for creative opportunities and get involved in any social clubs at the Uni or locally: I loved Book Club in my final year of Uni and only wished I’d joined sooner!

Best thing about the University of Winchester?

One of the best things about the University was that I felt part of a privileged community.

Guilty Pleasure

There were many guilty pleasures including drink the bar dry at the end of Semester, Rock n Roll Bingo and Andy Melrose’s sense of humour!
