What are you up to these days?

I’m currently working for a luxury travel company as a Copy Editor, writing travel blogs and creating copy across their website. In my downtime I’m attempting to learn Japanese as I prepare to move to Japan in March, where I’ll be teaching English to Japanese students.

Favourite Uni memory

My favourite uni memory has to be writing songs for the songwriting module. Aside from writing, I’m immensely passionate about music. I had never attempted anything like that before, and I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. It was refreshing new way to be creative and I never anticipated a module like that when I began the course.

Advice for new students

My advice for new students is try and be open to everything. Though I was hesitant to begin with, I have fond memories of attending the Pop-Up Poetry Café and hearing other students share their work. I arrived at uni with a hatred of poetry, but after taking it as a module it quickly became one of my favourites. It blew apart all of my misconceptions, and had I not tried it, I’d still assume it was just flowery nonsense. (It’s far from it!)

Best thing about UoW

The best thing about the University of Winchester is its sense of community. Being a smaller uni, I’d regularly bump into friends and lecturers from all sorts of different courses.

Guilty pleasure

A guilty pleasure of mine (and I’d argue a fair few students at Winchester) is BOP! A weekly night of unadulterated cheesy pop tunes and drinks at the resident Vault Bar. It’s a great night out if you’re after a laugh.
