16 Mar 2018

Mission-led business is at the top of the business agenda following the Cabinet Office Mission-Led Business Review of the role and impact of this sector of the economy.

Loughlin Hickey, a member of the advisory panel to the review and founder of Blueprint for Better Business, which was involved in the development of the government report, is speaking at the University of Winchester on Wednesday 21 March.

He will be explaining what a mission-led business is, why it is important and how to put it into practice. His talk is the latest in a series of events hosted by the University's Centre for Responsible Management.

"Mission-led business is an initiative that encourages businesses to operate true to a purpose that serves society, respects the dignity of people whilst also generating a fair return for responsible investors. However, if it's not thought through properly, it is in danger of becoming meaningless," said Dr Karen Blakeley, Director of the Centre for Responsible Management.

"Loughlin is one of the UK's thought leaders in this area and this is a fantastic opportunity to hear him speak about the importance of mindset in purpose-led business."

Loughlin Hickey was previously Global Head of Tax at KPMG and original founder of Blueprint for Better Business, an organisation that provides tools to help businesses to become a force for good in society.

In his role as a Senior Adviser to Blueprint, he helps businesses develop their own path to become a mission-led business. He represents Blueprint in presenting a more human-centric view of business to a wide range of governmental, commercial and educational stakeholders and is also involved in KPMG's Global Responsible Tax Project.

'Purpose-led business - what, why, how?' takes place at West Downs, Romsey Road, Winchester SO22 5HT on Wednesday 21 March. At 6pm, there will be light refreshments, Loughlin Hickey will speak at 6.30pm and there will be drinks and networking at 7.45pm.

All welcome. Tickets are £5 each which includes a small buffet and drinks.
