Winchester has a great selection of coffee shops; in fact you are spoilt for choice of places to brunch, lunch or just a tea to take-away. Here are some of our suggestions of some of the quirky coffee shops to visit.

Cafemonde

22 The Square, SO23 9EX

A place that you could easily spend a few hours, you can see people drawing there and watching the world go by making it feel like a little café in France. Generally known for outdoor seating but there is seating inside for colder months. A particular selling point is their breakfasts with a free tea or coffee before 11am.

Chococo

152 High Street, SO23 9AY

If you want a hot chocolate, no need to look anywhere else! Chococo allows you to try varying percentages of hot chocolate. I tried the 45% Milk Venezuelan which was chocolate heaven! Another bonus is that they give you a chocolate taster (I had chocolate and raisin) allowing you to try new things. They also do chocolate fondue sharers, great for celebrating birthdays or coursework hand-ins.

Café Winchester

ss

28-29 Saint Thomas Street, SO23 9HJ

A little gem, hidden away on a side street. Previously known as Ginger Two or SO Winchester. I don’t think you can call yourself a local until you’ve been here. You can choose from different blends of tea, coffee, milkshakes, smoothies and old-fashioned style drinks. There is a wide selection of cakes at the bar which makes for a tough decision. Also, they do good jacket potatoes and paninis which makes Café Winchester a must location for a meet-up.

Caracoli

Coffee Machine

100 High Street, SO23 9AH

Caracoli is a very small café with a good selection of smoothies. Choose this café in summer and take a stroll with your drink in the Cathedral grounds. They use T2 tea leaves which allows you to try many new flavours of tea.

Corner House

71 North Walls, SO23 8DA

Coming here is like having lunch in someone’s living room. Their tea comes in china cups and saucers and with their brunch menu, it is definitely worth a visit.

Which one will you try first?
