Biography

I am Senior Lecturer in Sociology and Head of the Department of Politics and Society, created in 2017. During my time as a PhD student at the University of Lancaster, I was the tutor for a number of seminar classes. Along with a colleague, I also ran a short research methods course and taught older people about research methods for a study.

Within a year of starting at Winchester, I took on the role and responsibilities of programme leader of the BSc Social Care Studies. After an 18-month period as Acting Head of the Department of Health and Social Care, I took on the sole responsibility for devising, developing and implementing a BA Sociology programme, which was launched in 2010. In the same year I finished a Master's of Business Administration (with Distinction). The dissertation from the MBA led to a published peer-reviewed article.

Higher Education Teaching Qualification: Higher Education Academy Senior Fellowship (SFHEA).
