It’s no secret to anyone that student life can get very hectic at times, and that 9am lecture the morning after BOP is not a friend to anyone! Many of us rely on coffee to get through those late nights in the library and early starts, so as a result I have taken it upon myself to identify the best independent coffee shops in Winchester to keep you energised whilst tackling university life.

Hoxton Bakehouse - 8/10

Located on Jewry street near the popular spots of Wetherspoons and Turtle Bay, the Hoxton Bakehouse will provide you with good strong coffee and absolutely DEVINE cinnamon buns! With an average price of around £2.50, a beautifully decorated coffee is well within the student budget, and their “Hipster” décor may be just what you need to motivate you to bring your laptop and get some of those essays written!

Dispensary Kitchen - 8.5/10

Dispensary Kitchen is one of my favourite spots in Winchester, located in the Square, it overlooks the stunning cathedral grounds. Not only is the coffee super smooth and soft, if getting a good Instagram picture is your thing, their latte art is on point and the café itself has a lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff.

Coffee Lab - 9/10

Located just a stone’s throw from The Dispensary Kitchen, Coffee lab can be found in Little Minster Street just off the main high street. Not only does the coffee taste delightful (despite the lack of latte art), the shop itself is everything you want in a chilled study spot but the staff are super kind, and maybe their selection of delicious cakes could push yourself to do that little bit of extra work in return for a tasty reward.

Josie’s - 9.5/10

Josie’s is a more popular spot in Winchester, known for its delicious breakfasts and light lunches. Just down the road from the Hoxton Bakehouse, Josie’s will provide you beautifully decorated coffee, tasty food and very kind staff.

Orangery - 10/10

Without a shadow of a doubt, my number one coffee spot in Winchester is The Orangery. The café exquisitely decorated inside, with a garden of Eden vibe that instantly calms you down and banishes all stress. Their coffee art is like something I have never seen before, they have some VERY talented baristas! The café is so beautiful it can be hard to leave, and it is clear to see the hard work and love the owners have put into it.

There are so many lovely coffee shops in Winchester, and so many yet to try! Follow the No.1 Coffee Instagram in Winchester @Coffeeinwinch for continuous, up-to-date reviews on the best coffee shops in Winchester.
