The University of Winchester's graduates are among the most employable in the country, with the latest national figures placing the University 12th out of 106 English universities for the proportion of graduates progressing into work and/or study.
The results of the national Graduate Outcomes Survey, which tracks what graduates are doing the year after finishing their studies, show that 90.1% of Winchester's surveyed graduates went on to employment, further study, or a combination of both.
It marks another climb up the national rankings, with the University rising from 17th to 12th place in a single year.
The figures follow a recent study showing strong demand for graduates among employers. Research carried out by Public First for Universities UK found that 81% of employers want to see the current number of graduates sustained or increased.
Several courses at the University performed exceptionally well nationally. Film Production was ranked joint first in the country, with 100% of its graduates progressing into work and/or study. A further eight Winchester course areas ranked among the top ten nationally in their subject area: Law (3rd), Childhood and Youth Studies (5th), Psychology (6th), Nutrition and Dietetics (=6th), Teacher Training (7th), Physiotherapy (10th), Events Management (10th), and Creative Writing (10th).
The University also performed strongly against an emerging measure being considered for the next Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), which asks graduates how far they are using what they learned in higher education in their current roles. Across recent years, Winchester graduates have consistently reported applying their learning at a rate above the sector average.
Dr Angus Paddison, Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Winchester, said: "These results are a testament to the quality of teaching at Winchester, and to the support we provide to our students throughout their time with us. Climbing five places in a single year shows that a Winchester degree opens doors and prepares people for meaningful careers.
"We are especially proud to see graduates from these subject areas ranked among the best in the country for gaining employment. It reflects our commitment to transformational education and the confidence we aim to instil in every student who comes to Winchester."
The figures are drawn from the national Graduate Outcomes Survey, administered by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), which contacts graduates approximately 15 months after they complete their studies to capture what they are doing next.
