Faculty of Business and Law

The Faculty of Business and Law offers an interdisciplinary, industry-focused education combining business, digital technologies, law and justice subjects to prepare students for successful careers.

 

The Faculty of Business and Law brings together a broad range of disciplines spanning business, digital technologies, law, policing, criminology and forensics. The Faculty combines the University of Winchester Business School, the Department of Digital Technologies, the Department of Law, and the Department of Policing, Criminology and Forensics, creating an interdisciplinary environment that reflects the needs of modern society and a forward-thinking university.

The Faculty is designed to bring together core academic disciplines while developing interdisciplinary linkages with other Faculties across the University. It provides a framework for understanding contemporary social, economic, digital and legal challenges.

Students and Programmes

The Faculty has UK, European and international students studying across undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes on both full- and part-time basis.

Subject areas include Accounting and Finance, Economics, Business Management, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Digital Media, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Project Management, Events Management, Fashion Marketing, Law, Policing, Criminology and Forensics.


Teaching and Student Experience

The Faculty provides an industry-ready experience. Students engage with the professional community through real-life casework, project-based modules, placements and volunteering opportunities. Many programmes include a period of employment or work-based learning, enabling students to apply knowledge in professional settings.

Facilities

The Faculty offers a range of specialist facilities across its subject areas, including moot courts for legal training and extensive criminology and forensics facilities. These include teaching, research and linguistics laboratories, a dedicated crime scene house and a DEFRA-licensed taphonomic facility for decomposition research. Digital technology laboratories and computing resources support teaching in computer science and related disciplines.
