Sophie joined the University of Winchester in 2018 as Placement Manager for the developing Physiotherapy degree. Her role has since expanded to encompass all programmes with regulated placement requirements, and she is now the Director for Faculty Professional Placements and Clinical Services. An HCPC registered Physiotherapist, Sophie has worked across health, social care, research and improvement, bringing a strong understanding of regulatory environments, professional standards, and high-quality practice learning.
She trained in Physiotherapy at Oxford Brookes University and holds a master’s in clinical research from the University of Southampton. Sophie has led regional sector groups, contributed to national discussions on placement quality, and established the Winchester Health Clinic to support students, staff and the local community. Her professional interests include strengthening professional standards, championing student voice, and widening access to coaching for colleagues.
Outside of work, Sophie is mum to three young boys and a competitive powerlifter.
