After receiving her PGCE from Manchester Metropolitan University, Jo taught in Manchester schools for 13 years as a Primary School class teacher, also holding various roles over that time: Mathematics Lead, Languages Lead, Assessment Lead, and KS2 Leader. Jo then moved overseas and spent several years teaching KS2 and KS3 in International Schools in China, India and Thailand before returning to the UK. She then joined the University of Winchester, where she is a Senior Lecturer for Primary and Secondary teacher training students.

Publications
Jo has a Masters degree in Education and is a Fellow of the HEA. She has presented at several conferences on how teachers can support children that use English as an additional language. She authors university module content and is an External Examiner for the University of Portsmouth PGCE.
